Marty Lyons

In November of 2000, former New York Jet All-Pro defensive tackle, Marty Lyons accepted a position on the honorary board of The David Center. Lyons is a long time friend of both Jim Pons who was the Video Director of the Jets, and Dr. Patricia Elvir who served on the board of directors of The Marty Lyons Foundation, an organization he founded to provide wishes for terminally ill children. While establishing a brilliant professional football career with the Jets, Lyons never forgot his personal goal of helping children. The Marty Lyons Foundation was founded in 1982, has 14 chapters throughout eight states, and has made dreams come true for more than 1,200 children in the last 16 years. Wishes have included meeting professional athletes, trips to Disneyland and even visits to meet the President.
Lyons is married (Chris) and has four children (Rocky, 17, Jesse, 6, Megan, 4, Luke, 2). The family lives on Long Island. He's an investment executive with Paine Webber, television football commentator for Hofstra University, co-host of the New York Jets Journal and founder/volunteer with the Marty Lyons Foundation.
